some ?

[:1]I want to know what enchants i would use for fist weapons b/c i dont like the polearm
What enchants?

At level 85, enchant agility. You won't get the same amount as you would on a 2H with Mighty Agility - but you will get some.

Really, at 85 you should really know this by now :).

If you have to have something NOW and can't get/afford the agi enchants (Lord knows on Echo Isles they're overpriced - a blue Agility to Weapon enchant is over 1K!) - Attack Power, Crit are also both good. Any of the other secondary stats you should already be reforged/gemmed for and at or close to cap, making most of the other weapon enchants useless.

A two-handed weapon with the mighty agility enchant is highly commended by a large majority of hunters, whether you favor the two-handed weapon or not. Go for Jin'do's Verdict, enchant it with +130 agility and you'll be fine.

....or Vicious Gladiator's Pike, as it seems you like to PvP.
Assuming you're talking PVP:-

Vicious Gladiator's Pike = 341 agi + weapon chain (40 hit)

DW fist weapons = 146 agi x 2 + wep chain on 1, 26 agi on other = 318 agi

Is it really worth dropping 23 agi, 74 stam, 34 resil and 34 crit just for looks?

If you're talking PVE, it's even worse, since you'd be using the 130 agi enchant on your 2h wep and 52 (26x2) agi on DW 1h in addition the the extra base agi on any 2h cata weapon over 2 equivalent 1h's.

Help a newbie out?

[:1]I'm fairly new to WOW, and I was wondering if any veterans and experienced players could look at my gear and stats and tell me how I'm doing. For my lvl, is my gear good or bad? If not, where should I look to get gear and other items that could help me be stronger in both PvE and PvP?
Throw some cheap gems in your legs but overall pretty good. You have a couple of weird talent points that could be adjusted but not a big deal. Also you could use a few glyphs. Aimed shot is not a "preferred" glyph but overall on the right track. There are some good "sticky" guides at the top of the page as well.
Going to do my best, but I'm not a pro by any means.

Gear looks pretty good, but I don't think Strength (Omarion's gift) benefits hunters much. Though I think at your level, trinkets come far and few between.

In your MM spec, I wouldn't worry about Resistance is futile since you shouldn't be using KC much as MM. And Marked for Death probably isn't that useful in PvE since we have hunter's mark which stays up for 5 minutes opposed to 15 seconds. I'd say move the 2 from Resistance and top off Sic Em and Posthaste. If you're going 2/2 in rapid recuperation, but the 1 from MfD in Rapid Killing so you get the 50 focus bonus. You'll still have 3 pts to play with before topping out the tree - maybe Concussive Barrage or Bombardment.

For your glyphs, you should get the steady shot prime glyph since that's a big part of MM.
As was stated earlier, the only bad piece of gear you have is the Strength trinket, which does absolutely nothing for you. And, as was also said, trinkets are few and far between, so just replace it when you can. Keep using the Agility Mail pieces, that's all you should use as a Hunter.

Personally, I would skip gemming until you are at 85, but there is a vendor in the inn at Honor Hold that sells cheap gems, if you must.

I personally love Bombardment and Concussive Barrage for AoE-ing and kiting, so I would have taken those talents. Resistance is Futile is a worthless talent and should be avoided. You should never use Kill Command as a MM Hunter. At the end game, 1/2 Termination is all you really need, if even that. Take Rapid Recuperation and Rapid Killing together for 50 free focus every time you kill a mob, this turns you into the Energizer Bunny. Sic 'Em is currently bugged in that the proc is consumed but your pet still uses the focus, and I'm not sure if this will be hotfixed quickly or not.

The glyphs for leveling are the same as for end game, so just follow what is in the guide at the top of the forums to fill out your empty glyph spots.

You might wanna start filling out your stable of pets too. You have 23 (eventually 25) slots, so don't be afraid to visit a stable master and kennel one while you go tame some more.
You seem to get gear mostly though questing, probably level that way too.
try the looking for group dungeon finder tool.
It will ncely boost your leveling speed and will get you some better gear.

And its fun too

:)
Adarant, does the RR & RK combo still work at 85? I specced out of it, mostly b/c MM is more my instance soloing spec and not really my group instance spec, though I've been using it as both recently.
It works on most, but not all level 84 and 85 things. So far, it has procced off of every single thing I have killed for the Molten Front dailies (in Hyjal and the Molten Front) and on the Bloods for Cho'gall. However, Mendia reported that it did not work for the Whelps on the Sinestra fight.

I changed my spec to pick up RR+RK and Entrapment+Concussive Barrage while we were progressing on Cho'gall, and that was just one of many small changes that got my guild over the hump. Think about it, nearly endless AoE damage with a 4 second daze and a 4 second root.

I abuse it on the Molten Front dailies as I always have focus to lead with an Aimed Shot. Heck, most of the time I can AiS > Chimera > Kill Shot > Kill Shot because the mobs have only 77K health.
Might have to pick that point up then, at least for instances. I do quests & dailies as BM :)
At 64, you'll be able to knock a good trinket out of a Hellfire Peninsula quest, and another easy one in Terokkar Forest:

Bladefist's Breadth from the "Overlord" group quest, likely you'll be able to solo it with a tanking pet if you save Silencing Shot for his Inferno (summons 2 demons, cast only once at 50% health)

Terokkar Tablet of Precision from "Torgos!", after killing buzzards for Allerian Stronghold. It may be tougher to find a group for this one, but should be easier to kill yourself. You might also want to tame him first, it's a unique color that can only be obtained while doing the quest.
Your gear is probably better than average.

There are some nice rings you can get if you do the daily PVP quest in honor hold.

The random dungeons usually offer the best gear.

Throw on some cheap agility gems for a little extra dps.

Sometimes you can find some cheap enchants. I often see +16 agility to cape very cheap.

This site lists a lot of the best BC items for hunters.

Thanks everyone!
Sorry I'm late but my advice ( and I was a good hunter) stop leveling it and roll a mage,dk, druid, or pallie. Trust me in the end you will feel better and stay longer. Although I loved playing my hunter, the problems were just to many. And the taking away of aggro stance was the final straw. Please for your own sanity roll a different class ( this is no joke).

BM PvP questions...

[:1]1. What is the deal with Kill Command taking several presses to actually activate? I always use dash before I use Kill Command. Add to that the 30% bonus from Boar's Speed and my pet should be running at 110% speed. How is this not getting him into range for Kill Command?

2. When fighting a Rogue can they Vanish through a Flare?

3. Has anyone figured out stances yet? Assist causes my pet to spin circles. Defense causes my pet to do nothing or randomly take off. Passive is the best but sometimes he takes off without any commands from me. No matter what stance my pet is in he will sometimes run back to me even if the target has not been CCed.

Thanks for you help.
1. I have heard KC is pretty buggy, and I don't know if 4.2 fixed it.
2. Flare is no longer an instant stealth remover anymore, and works kinda like Ring of Frost where it applies the effect occasionally.
3. Right now my pet is in passive, just because its easier to control what my pet attacks. Also, KC will automatically make your pet attack the target, even if it is in passive.

Roar of Recovery change

[:1]It's pretty well known hunters have the worst self heals currently in the game. That being said, why not change the current Roar of Recovery (which isn't that great of an ability since the change to focus) to allow Mend Pet to be cast on the hunter. Keep the 3 minute cooldown and keep the heal at 25% health over 10 seconds. Or even just bypass having to cast mend pet on the hunter after activation, and have RoR apply the DoT heal immediately (this way to avoid another clunky hunter mechanic).

Honestly, I don't find this being too OP if implemented as stated above, 25% hp every 3 minutes isn't anywhere near close to being God-like, but what it would do is help our sketchy self heals that are currently in game right now, and perhaps get us out of a few oh S&*@ situations.

Thoughts?

CC help?

[:1]When I tried H. Deadmines, my Freezing Trap was ignored over and over.
Any tips for who, when, and where to CC would be appreciated... unless I should just ignore CC and burn the mobs?

I discovered the Envoker's Shield was part of the problem. The solution I'm trying is
Tranq > Distract > Freezing Trap. Feels clumsy. There has to be a better solution.

Any tips or advice is appreciated.
Since our CCs have a small setup time, you could probably launch the trap and then quickly tranq them before the trap actually procs. Never actually tried it, but in theory it should work.

Just double click the mob (once to trap, once to target,) fire a tranq shot, and hope the tranq hits before the trap goes off.

So Rogues.

[:1]Where is Blizzard at for letting Hunters Mark stick and work and DoTs to knock Rogues out of stealth?
HAHA; they got rid of that a long time ago because they were QQ about how OP it was. If they had HM they couldn't go back into stealth and the hunter always knew where they were. They got rid of it...sadly enough. But eventually gave us Camo which is now useless.
All the rogues do "and i think all rogues suck besides one " all they do is sap, sap, sap, AMBUSH, stun lock, VANISH, sap, sap ,sap, AMBUSH, STUN LOCK , reset vanish, cast cloak of shadows VANISH AND REPEAT

Fix for the Auto Shot Fix

[:1]Please use the tools blizzard gave you (I mean this in a nice way). Try using a macro so you don't have to click. Here's a macro that I use so it DOES NOT target enemies father than your max range, applies Hunter's mark, sends in your pet (pet should be on passive), and starts auto attack. I also added my profession perk, but you can add trinkets and other things.

/targetenemy
/cast Hunter's Mark
/petattack
/startattack
/cast Lifeblood(Rank 4)

In close quarters instances (like Stocks), make sure you're not close to you tank. You could accidentally target mobs farther ahead of the pack. As a semi good hunter, this should not be an issue as you should be aware of your environment, and not button mashing like some crazed derp orc.

The fix to auto targeting has been a blessing for groups. I can not tell you how many times (on my DK alt) that a hunter accidentally auto targets another mob or cc'd mob. Hopefully this fix will play down our "huntard" stigma that we have.

Disclaimer: I know I do not have any Heroics completed or bosses downed, no arena rating, and probably no BG stats. This is what is working for me and for others to try out. Just tring to help. Good Hunting!

ATTENTION: Targeting Fix Here

[:1]To make your targeting work like before the patch, make macros that look like:

/cast arcane shot
/startattack

You should get almost the same functionality as before.

Please report me for sticky so every freaking post isn't about this.
I totally agree with Wintersgrace. This is what I have been using before patch and it work awesome for me:

/targetenemy
/cast Hunter's Mark
/petattack
/startattack
/cast Lifeblood(Rank 3)

Life blood of course is optional. Trinkets should work the same here as well. If you us my macro, it works best with pet on passive
Alternatively, you can just punch yourself in the face until your eyes swell shut and smash the hell out fo your keyboard whilst praying to your preferred higher power for BIG DEEPS.

noobs.
Hey, theres no reason to be an a-hole. Why you so angry?
I'm just saying. Its an option.
Don't let this guy bother you. He trolled the other hunter posts in the same fashion. Either or some people get very angry over change and are resistant to tailor their ways to make it work.

I see this post as helping others, not forcing anyone to play our play style.

No I agree that its a helpful post. I just resent the fact that so many people who play this game are so dense so often.
oh... okay. I totally agree with you. Please disregard my last post then. Now, I feel like the a-hole. lol
Well it did seem like I was talking to the op in my post and if so I apologize.

I was mainly talking to the faceless hordes of inept huntards.
LMAO!!! So true.

ye olde hydras

[:1]Anyone know when they're allowing hydras to be tameable?

BM PVE'er's Discussion

[:1]I know MM is the all time woop!woop! for pve, but I have been BM for many moons. The past couple of days I have been catching a lot of flack about it, more than the usual just for being a hunter in general. And this is only in ROZ. Anyway, after getting fed up I second spec'ed as MM, got everything resituated, studied the rotation, practiced it for a dummy hour, then went in an instance. My gear is crap, I understand this and am working on it, but my thing is this. I only gained about 1-2k dps as mm burst, sustained is about the same. It is all low at around 15k atm, as I said, gear isn't great. But from playing BM so long I can switch rotations and adapt to situation changes in my sleep, but I'm just not getting the hang of MM. I spend too much time watching for cd's and w/e than I do seeing what's happening in the run. I just want to know if BM is completely unheard of in endgame pve.
**BTW**As I said my gear/setup is crap, so don't troll on my setup. I'm just asking if anyone does Raid in BM or poss. SV
BM can be done, and hold it's own, in PvE...

...unless the fight involves switching targets, or aerial combat (see: Atremedes). Then you're screwed.
Not BM related so edited
holding up my end of the bargain

if you enjoy beast mastery, you should play it. for progression stuff and serious raiding, it is not ideal. but it is absolutely a playable spec for 90% of the stuff in this game. just has inherent wonkiness compounded by target switching, pet travel, and weaker aoe than the other two specs.

Good point.
The Pet focus "bug" they fixed with this last patch crippled pet damage, thus crippling your DPS. The new stances finished us off.

I too was a fan of using BM and had enjoyed being able to actually use my rare beasts again. However I now do ~3k less DPS than pre-4.2 and it's my opinion that that is just too far under MM to justify using.

If you are only running 5 man heroics (non troll versions) then this is not a problem.

I do the 5man ZA/ZG just fine. No one's ever /lol'd at me for being BM as long as I pull my weight.

Now I have to agree, BM is doing way under MM right now, and I'm still hopeful Blizzard will come off their "omg itz a leveling build lulz" horse with the rest of the community (non-hunters). It's high time they made "Exotic" creatures better in the long run to me, just to even out the damage gap.

But that's wishing.

EDIT: I've also read that Sic'em was broken in 4.2, does anyone know if that's true?
It is. You get the buff and the buff is consumed when your pet uses bite (or what ever), but the pet still uses 25 (50) focus regardless.

When they fix it, they should add kill comm to it. Both Surv and MM have more chances for Sic'Em to proc than BM, but it helps BM alot more than the other 2. MM can use arcane shot more in a rotaion plus have a free instant aimed shot. And Surv uses Explosive shot (is it just the first explosion or will all 3 of them proc Sic'Em) as often as we use kill comm, as well as using arcane (outside of lock and load). Where as we have one maybe two chances a rotaion outside of BW.

Survival questions

[:1]Number 1. Am I doing this right, on group pulls spam Cobra shot and Multi shot ( to spred serpent sting) and single tgts Serpent sting, explosive shot, and rotate back and forth from cobro shot to explosive when its up till target is dead.

Number 2. I am still using the raptor from the goblin starting quest line and not really collected anything else for survival spec. What pet should i use for dungeons and raiding in survival.

Number 3. My haste when i proc abilities goes to about a 1.56 cast time on cobra shot, should i spec now into crit more or mastery more.

Number 4. What is more preferred, MM or Survival for dungs. and raids?
Whipsnchains,

Maybe I can add a little to the discussion, although Maybella has already provided very sound info.

1. You want to fit 3 cobras between each explosive shot. Make sure to have enough Focus saved up to cast both Explosive and BA when BA is close to coming off Cooldown. During LnL procs your Priority should be Explosive --> Cobara --> Explosive -->BA/Arcane -->Explosive

2. Look at this link for suggested pets to cover all your raid buffs:
(its an MM guide, but it covers pets also)

3. You want your Cobra Shot cast time to be at or slightly under 1.66. Without the 4pT11 set bonus this requires 757 haste rating. Reforge any excess into Crit then Mastery where available, assuming you are at the hit cap.

4. I find it necessary for raiding, especially doing progression to have at least 2 different specs. I feel like SV is the easiest and can do the Shot Priority in my sleep, so I tend to lean on this when doing fights for the firs time. SV is also the best AoE spec which is very handy for fights where you are having to dps down multiple adds fast like Cho'Gal, Magmaw, Maloriak.

In perfect world with all buffs and 100% uptime on single target boss fights, MM is the highest DPS spec followed by BM and then SV. They are all competitive.

Best of Luck and Happy Hunting,
-Kalilah

Hunter DPS analyzer?

[:1]Hello

So i was wondering if there is a site / add-on i can use that will show my overall DPS with gear that i chose, what different types of gems i gem in it. Reforge stats etc.. would do it in game but, seems it will be rather expensive
femaledwarf.com

Theres a really good site for this but i can't think of it for the Life of me Unfortunately......

Best Pvp and Pve spec?

[:1]Im making a new hunter, can you give me a low down on the specs? Please and thank you
Since this will be a new hunter, I assume you're asking about leveling.

For PvP leveling, MM all the way. Aimed Shot is your friend.
For PvE leveling, each spec is viable, just try 'em all out and pick whichever is the most fun.

If you want something more in-depth for leveling, I'd suggest visiting the WHU (http://www.warcrafthuntersunion.com).
Alright, Thank you a ton (:

MM vs survival

[:1]in all seriousness why was survival soo powerfull back in Wotlk now compared to Marksman its is like weak as Dirt in pvp

My newest Hunter pvp movie

[:1]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N929SmXLXFA

check it and lemme know what you think =]
bump any opinions?
Nice. I could only suggest cleaning up your UI. You would be suprised how many QQ's you will get on your video for that.
thanks for the input im trying to figure out a way to change my UI to clean it up without drasticcaly having to revamp it to the point where i need to relearn it

Any "Servers First-Tame Deth'tilac" achiev?

[:1]Is there such an achievement if someone was first to tame "Deth'tilac"?
If its the most powerful and rarest, i think it would deserve it
and if someone already got it would u guys know if they did?
My friend already has this and has had it. He said it wasn't the hardest to get, and that it was actually pretty easy.
I wouldn't call it the hardest one. But most time consuming. The hardest one for me was skitterflame. He was hard to get, lots of correct timing.
I got server 2nd on all but yellow Spider.
Server Second on Karkin
and server First on Ban

still need the 3 kitties
I tamed her a 4:49am June 29, 2011 And no Achiv for me ALSO

I tamed every other Rare pet in Molten Front but the Crab and by Far
Skarr is the best... FRICKIN METAL CAT!
Well the strats for all the spider and rare tames have been up on petopia for a week, do you really think it's deserving of an achievement :|

Feign Death + Mass Res = FTW

[:1]I almost look forward to wipes now in heroics.
I was always partial to FD, jumper cables.....if they failed, I have 5 mins to afk while everyone runs back.
Its so funny when some noob doesnt realize Hunters have Feign Death and that go off their nutter....good times

Pet action bar spells

[:1]Hi there

If i activate certain pet spells in the spell book that aren't on the pet action bar, will they take effect or do they have to be on the pet action bar to take effect?

Thanks
They'll still work. Anything that is lit up with the auto cast animation will go off by itself. Generally, you want to put your activation abilities on your pet bar and configure your auto casts through the spellbook such as Growl and Smack.

Abilities such as Call of the Wild and Rabid and others will auto proc if they're setup that way regardless of being on your bar.
They should not need to be on the action bar to autocast. A quick way to test this is to send your pet against a target dummy (or mob, if you need to test something like Cower), with your pet spellbook open. If the spell is used and subsequently goes on cooldown, it is definitely autocasting.
Thanks guys

Question about haste plateaus

[:1]I'm about to get my 4pc this upcoming Tuesday, but I'm a little confused on the haste that I'll need. EJ says that with the 4pc and glyph, I should need 10.52%, but I'm not sure if that's what is displayed on my character sheet or the raw rating translation (without the Pathing talent). Any help would be appreciated.
The 10.52% is entirely from gear, without Pathing included.
So pathing does not show up in your character screen?
I think that Pathing is included in your character sheet, but I am not 100% sure. Because of this confusion, it is best to look at Haste ratings when determining necessary amounts. This number is affected only by gear and will always be reliable.
